The project is a business simulation game allowing the company’s employees to experiment in a safe and controlled environment and learn the fundamentals and mechanics of managing an offshore wind business. It lets users get insights from their own decisions, as well as the decisions of other players.
About the Project
Overview:
Challenge
Our client, a business consulting company from Norway, proposed a business simulation game for its partner from the Energy sector. They wanted to prepare the prototype of a new version of this online game with enhanced features for employee trainings.
SPECIFIQUE NORGE AS specialises in developing tailored learning processes for businesses. Check out their website to learn more about their services and ongoing projects.
Solution
The game offers players 4 world markets and 8 project areas with the goal to explore business development possibilities and pitfalls. The game lasts 30 in-game years, by the end of which the team with the highest valuation wins.
All team members are logged in the game, however only one person can share the screen to verify the actions of the team. There is also a game-master role, which reveals new content as the game progresses.
In the first stage of the game, teams are getting to know the different countries and project areas. The second step is to create a strategy and build the best possible investment portfolio before placing the bids.
On the third step, the companies should review their portfolio following the bid rounds. The next step is asset management, which lasts until the end of the game. Finally, the players reflect on what worked and what didn’t, and use those conclusions as a basis for optimal performance in a real-world business environment.

Development
Our team developed a prototype with a new design of the game within 2 months. Throughout the project, we had to address a few challenges to ensure the game met the client’s goals.
Firstly, we needed to make sure the game was educational enough and engaging without overwhelming players with too much new information. Secondly, we had to design intuitive in-app onboarding processes to guide players effectively and teach them to make strategic decisions. And finally, we had to find a way to present data charts and graphs in the most digestible manner, so players would easily interpret the results of their activities.
Moreover, Bamboo Agile redesigned the Admin dashboard and “Game Creation” sections, created the “Dialogue” functionality, and suggested enhancements in the main player interface.
The team kept constant contact with the client to quickly respond to their requests. Bamboo Agile offered feedback on the tasks handed to them and actively suggested alternatives when deemed appropriate.
Results
Bamboo Agile delivered a prototype, fulfilling the client’s request. The project successfully demonstrated the feasibility and core functionalities of a new version of the game. Now, the client is awaiting funding to proceed with the development phase, indicating their interest and commitment to advancing the project beyond the prototype stage.
